As an employer with a brand, are you listening and responding?
This week on the show we invited back Employer Brand guru, Bryan Chaney to talk about the essentials for employer branding, tips to start tackling the employer brand challenge and how candidate experience has a massive impact on your brand and consumer brand.
For those of you not familiar with Bryan, he actually âcame to recruitment from the marketing worldâ when he joined an agency in 2004 and was tasked with âsourcing and creating marketing campaigns for some of the biggest brands in the worldâ. Fast-forward to 2019 he is now the Director for Employer Brand and Talent Attraction for Indeed and the Co-Founder of the Talent Brand Alliance which is hosting its first UK event in London during October 2019.
On the show, Bryan provides us with clear guidance on the distinction between terms such as employer branding and employer brand as he tells us,
“Employer branding is the act of branding your company as a great employer, employer brand is the reputation based on how people are treated before, during and after they walk through your halls.”
If working here had a soundtrack, what would be on that soundtrack?
Bryan also covers the topics of culture and candidate experience as he tells about how they are intimately linked to employer brand and he highlights that
“Understanding your actual culture, and how can you talk about it is essential along with getting a sense of your culture now, and both require to to work at it.â
In short, there are no shortcuts or magic pieces of tech.
Filtering the strategy down to desk-level actions for recruiters, Bryan tells us that âa lot of it is around storytellingâ and he asks employers âare you empowering your recruiters to tell that story; are you giving them packaged stories that are relevant to the people they are trying to recruit?â
If that wasnât enough, below youâll hear Bryan talk about:
- Content creation for your employer branding
- Negative employer branding
- Tips for understanding your cultureÂ
- Candidate experience and your employer brand
- Employer branding for startupsÂ
- Hiring strategy session vs Intake strategy session
