I speak about the issues impacting recruitment and candidate experience that AI won’t solve.

Recruitment audiences discover how to become AI and robot-proof, and valued by the business. Recruiters and HR leave ready to improve their partnerships and gain the respect of managers and candidates. Reducing burnout, saving time, and ready to delver an exceptional candidate experience.

Management and leadership audiences learn how key changes take all the pain out of the hiring process. Talks include research from my second business book,Β Reboot Hiring: The Key To Managers and Leaders Saving Time, Money and Hassle When Recruiting.

Over the past 13 years, I have spoken to hundreds of public and corporate audiences across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Oceania, and Africa, sharing my 20+ years of experience. By changing my presentation to fit the event and culture, I ensure attendees find information relevant and leave invigorated, having enjoyed the learning experience.

Online or in person, I am high-energy and hold the attention of today’s easily distracted audience. See what people say below.

Feedback on Katrina Collier's 2024 talk

Katrina delivered a session to our entire TA team at GE. It allowed TA to understand their impact on candidate experience. I loved Katrina’s no nonsense approach; she didn’t shy away from showing what bad candidate experience can do to your brand. Katrina was a pleasure to deal with, very insightful and passionate, which came through in her delivery.

In 2020, we organised an internal regional conference, with over 200 consultants, recruiters and operational leaders taking part from various countries. Was looking for inspiring and knowledgable speaker to share the wisdom of Digital Recruitment and Talent Engagement. Katrina’s presentation was spot on; engaging and positive. Great energy; a lot of knowledge!

Organisers say:

Katrina delivered a fabulous session at The Recruitment Conference, speaking to an enthusiastic audience of industry professionals. Katrina speaks at lots of events and this really shows in her professionalism both on the day and pre-event. She was able to work with me to determine the perfect topic for the event and delivered her slides well ahead of time. During the event she was a real asset in terms of her flexibility, involvement in other sessions and also in the way she interacted with the delegates. I had great feedback on her session from attendees. I always enjoy working with Katrina.

Really enjoyed Katrina’s recent Masterclass on ‘Engaging In Demand Candidates’. As always, she was super engaging, right to the point and had some great tips to share on how to improve your own online presence. Even something simple as checking your own Linked In profile is up to par, to ensure candidates can find you easily, and when they do, that they still want to engage with you having reviewed your skill set and what you stand for. The class was very interactive and is was great to hear what others had to say on the topic as well. Until the next one Katrina!

The investment

Without knowing more about your event, it is hard to quote but let me talk plainly, like the Australian I am!

I have earned my stripes over the last 20 plus years so splitting this into categories:

  • Corporates: my rate will depend if this is ‘off the shelf’ or bespoke. Mostly I want to be sure we are a good fit so your team succeeds, so let’s talk.
  • Ticketed event organisers: if you are charging people to attend your event and have sponsors, it is unlikely I will agree to speak for free. Because, if you see the value in paying your team, venue, AV people, caterers, etc. you can definitely see the value in paying the people who attract the attendees. No speakers = no attendees = no sponsors/vendors.
  • HR tech vendors: there will be a fee. You are paying to gain access to my network, for a well-known audience-attracting keynote, and for my name and reputation associated with your product.

A deposit of 20% will be required to secure the dates, with the balance due by the talk date.

This said, organisers and HR tech vendors, if you can offer something genuinely valuable to my business in exchange for my time and expertise, I am happy to discuss your proposal. Book a call, using the from below, and let’s talk.

Too blunt? πŸ˜† Few like the money conversation but I too have bills to pay.

Ticketed event organisers

The ticketed-event business model centres on making money from speakers’ talks & vendors.

No talks = no attendees = no vendors.

People buy tickets to events to hear the knowledge shared by the speakers.

Expecting people to speak for free for exposure or a conference pass, while your company profits, is not a fair exchange. Exposure isn’t currency that can be used to pay bills. Plus, I have learned that there are far easier ways to gain exposure than forgoing other paid work to trek to an event to speak for free.Β

I have spoken at leading industry events on 5 continents because my reputation precedes me. Audiences are engaged from start to finish, leaving with tangible information to implement immediately. I draw a crowd and have earned my right to be paid fairly.

How would you feel in this scenario?Β

I was recently asked to speak at an event expected to attract 6500 attendees – they offered some free passes but most were €199 each.

πŸ’° 6500 x €199 = €1,293,500 but let’s say a mere 20% pay that’s still a whopping €258,700.
πŸ’° Plus they offered sponsorship booths between €1-2500 and there were lots of them.
πŸ’° Plus it was an online event with minimal overheads.

And even though they were prepared to pay themsleves and the website designer and host, I was expected to give my 20+ years of expertise, network and time for free.

Employed speakers, have fewer bill-worries so can usually speak for free. But speakers like me, cannot just drop paid work to speak for free, due to the escalating costs for gas, electric, food etc. we are all experiencing.

πŸ›‘ Stop it!

Exposure doesn’t pay people’s bills.
